After an Emergency

Are you Ready?

A natural disaster can strike at any time, without warning. Learn how to make an emergency kit and plan, and protect yourself, your family, and your property.

Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) is available for eligible people, businesses and communities in the Lower Mainland that were affected by flooding due to the atmospheric river from October 18 to 20, 2024.

Disaster Financial Assistance is a provincial support program meant to compensate for sudden, unexpected, and uninsurable losses.

Eligible expenses may include building repairs, replacement of essential personal effects, equipment and inventory, clean up and debris removal.

How to submit a claim

Claims will need to be submitted within 90 days of the event declaration. The deadline to submit applications is February 23, 2025.

Please visit the Province’s Financial assistance in a disaster web page to determine eligibility and for detailed instructions on how to submit a claim.

We will continue to update this resource page as each municipality learns more about the parameters of DFA.
