VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT & RESPONSIBILITIES
By signing this form, you are agreeing to the commitments and responsibilities defined below:
- I will serve my community to the best of my ability while assuring the integrity of NSEM.
- I will complete required prerequisites within the required time, updating skills as required
- I will attend a minimum of 60% of team meetings and will actively participate
- I will perform my volunteer role to the best of my abilities
- I will not engage in my volunteer role while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- I will serve my community to the best of my ability while assuring the integrity of NSEM

- I will not engage in my volunteer role while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- I will take care of my own physical and emotional health and support other team members to do the same
- I will report any unsafe conditions to my supervisor, ensuring the safety of myself and others
- I will conduct myself according to acceptable social standards and contribute to an environment of mutual respect and dignity, free from discrimination or harassment
- I will provide service to individuals affected by disasters in a manner that is courteous, caring, and professional, while respecting the dignity of people receiving service
- I will not use my position for personal advantage for myself, friends or relatives
- I will never misrepresent myself, my training or my skills to any organization or individual
- I will comply with NSEM policies, follow NSEM operational guidelines and established reporting structures
- I will obey all laws when responding and when performing volunteer activities
NORTH SHORE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT
- To provide volunteers with orientation to their role(s) and responsibilities
- To provide volunteers with ongoing training, support and all required resources to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
- To ensure volunteers are treated respectfully and as a colleague and team member.
- To ensure volunteers have a safe working environment, understanding that for emergency response volunteers, there are some inherent risks to response.
- To provide volunteers with regular performance evaluations.
- To value volunteers for the skills and qualities they bring to the volunteer program and ensure they receive recognition for their work.
- To strive to provide volunteers with assignments and opportunities that enable growth and provide meaningful support to NSEM and the residents of the North Shore.
